John brings to Squarepeg a passion for understanding the how and why of human interaction on the internet. Studying cognitive psychology and design at Lewis & Clark College, John wishes to merge his interests in art with his curiosity about they way that people think about and process what they see. A designer, photographer, developer, bike nut and general Portland geek, John probably would have developed an interest in steam engines, (and how people feel about them), had he been born in the 19th century.
contact: | www.illustratedprimer.comIsaac is interested in social entrepreneurship, anthropology, and medicine. He prefers small, sustainable solutions rather than big fat band-aids, and thinks that we can understand many prevailing social problems by elucidating the perspective of those who suffer most. When not busy with Squarepeg, he works with The Archimedes Movement, a healthcare reform effort. He studies Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Lewis & Clark College, and plans to go to medical school. He traces his roots as an activist and a human back to the small town in Oregon where he grew up as a jock/choir boy, and the small town in Holland where he spent a year as an exchange student with AFS.
contact: | www.crisscrosshatch.comLaura is a native Portlander, but she spent a lot of her childhood in Colorado. After high school, she returned to the northwest to attend Lewis & Clark College; she thinks Portland's quirks are irresistible even if its skies are grayer than Colorado's. She recently completed her BA in studio art with an emphasis in photography. Laura approaches her artistic efforts from sociology and anthropology perspectives because she is fascinated with people, the ways they interact, and how the visual arts can mediate this interaction. This passion for people will guide her work as a Human Rights Delegate to Rwanda in the summer of 2008, and eventually her pursuit of a Mastersin Public Health, focusing on domestic and/or international HIV andAIDS issues. Laura has a lovely red bike named Oliver, tends to think life is enchanting, likes daring people with big hearts, and leaves NPR on so that she has voices to come home to.
