In a Nutshell.Squarepeg is a communication tool for people who use the Internet to organize around social causes. We believe that change is social, that relationships are the heart of the social sector, and that organizations and individuals will interact more efficiently and persuasively if they use Squarepeg to leverage those connections.

Our Manifesto.Over the last fifteen years, an incredible amount of time and money has been expended investigating the way that people connect, communicate and collaborate via the Internet. It should come as no surprise, then, that when people talk about the Internet, they no longer talk about a faceless web of servers and algorithms: they talk about the complex social connections that are forged daily across this global medium. For the most part, however, these connections are either frivolous or profit oriented, serving either the immediate entertainment interests of media consumers, or the long-term corporate goals of those in power.

As activists with years of experience striving towards a better world, we see this as a horrendous oversight. As developers, we see this as a challenge to be met.

Squarepeg envisions an Internet where people no longer connect solely over the movies they watch, or the music they listen to, but over the struggles, challenges and opportunities that galvanize them to action. An Internet with true meaning, powered by passionate individuals across the globe. People connecting across continents or across the street to become inspired changemakers in their own lives, communities and the world.

We believe that change is a social phenomenon, directed by the individuals who wish to see it happen. We believe that by providing context and community for the massive amount of resources available to activists, we can produce effective changemakers who can shape a brighter future. We believe that as human beings, we are all responsible for this change.
